Master your skills or learn to play Timbales, Congas, Bongo, Middle Eastern percussion, Guiro, Maracas and basic drums with the one and only EDWIN TORRES.

All classes are private and are held at the Dance Academy of Salsa & Music, 2725 W Division Chicago, IL.

BIO: Chicago based percussionist, Edwin Torres, is one of the most solicited musicians in the Latin Music Market.

Edwin was born in 1966 in Chicago to Puerto Rican parents; he was musically influenced at an early age by his father and 4 older brothers. Edwin began playing drums at the age of 3 and by the age of 5, he was performing for live audiences along with his father and brothers.

Edwin has worked with artists like Celia Cruz, Rey Ruiz, Tito Puente Jr., Cachao, Jose Alberto (El Canario), Jay Losada, Roberto Torres, Pedro Jesus, Jose Ernesto, Charlie Cruz, Yomo Toro, Ismael Rivera Jr., Miles Pena, Anthony Cruz, Ismael Miranda, Pete (El Conde) Rodriguez, Hector Tricoche, Frankie Negron, George Lamont, Kevin Ceballo, Ley Alejandro, David Pabon, Lalo Rodriguez and many others.

Due to his professionalism, Edwin has traveled extensively with different artists throughout the world to places like Germany, France, Switzerland, Holland, Mexico, Colombia, Costa Rica, Alaska, Canada, as well as throughout the United States.

Classes are an hour long and taught in the following Musical order for easier learning and understanding of the music. Descriptions have been provided below.

Congas:

1. Tumbao, consist of hand patterned techniques.
2. Learning the rhythms of Salsa, Cha-Cha-Cha, Rumba, Songo, and Brazilian and many other rhythms.

Bongo:

1. Martillo (hammer), Marcha, Re-drubles, and closing hand patterns
2. Learning the rhythms, Salsa, Bolero, Guaguanco, and many other rhythms.
3. Learn how to play the Bongo Bell.

Timbales:

1. Basic cascara, how to play the Mambo bell and the Cha-Cha bell,.
2. How to hit the cymbals, and learn rhythms of Salsa, Bolero, Songo, Guaguanco, and Cuban Pilon, and Bomba and Plena from Puerto Rico and many other rhythms.

While learning hand techniques, they will consist of palm and finger methods, close and open tones, close and open slaps, and muffs.
